What This Diagram Does Not Show¶

• This is a simplified process map that keeps the focus on matching sticky ends, ligase and the role of the plasmid as a vector.
• The model does not try to show every industrial step after transfer into the host cell, such as fermenter growth or purification of insulin.
• Viruses can also act as vectors in this course, but this diagram focuses on the plasmid route because that is the clearest way to visualise recombinant DNA formation.
