Enzyme rate factors

Use this interactive to compare the two rate-factor graphs you need here: temperature and pH. It leaves out the concentration graphs so the focus stays on recognising why the rate rises to an optimum and why it falls when the active site changes shape.

What This Simulation Does Not Show

  • The temperature and pH curves are idealised teaching graphs, not measurements from one named enzyme.
  • Real enzyme activity depends on more than one factor at the same time. This interactive isolates one condition at a time so the graph shape is easier to interpret.
  • Substrate concentration and enzyme concentration are not included here, because this version is only meant to reinforce the temperature and pH ideas taught on this course page.
