Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease¶
Module 4 joins organism diversity, ecology, immunity and evolutionary change. These ideas connect naturally: pathogens drive selection, biodiversity is measured and conserved, and classification reflects evolutionary relationships.
Core Role¶
- Introduce pathogen types, transmission and immune responses.
- Define and measure biodiversity at habitat, species and genetic levels.
- Connect classification, phylogeny, variation and natural selection.
Learning Objective Map¶
Each Module 4 topic page now opens with a specification-aligned Learning Objectives section. Use these links to move between disease, biodiversity and evolution without losing the assessed topic boundaries.
| Topic | Objective map focus |
|---|---|
| 4.1.1 Communicable diseases, disease prevention and the immune system | pathogens; defences; immunity; vaccination; antibiotics |
| 4.2.1 Biodiversity | biodiversity measures; sampling; Simpson's index; conservation |
| 4.2.2 Classification and evolution | taxonomy; phylogeny; evidence; variation; natural selection |
