Fluid mosaic model¶

Use this interactive to connect phospholipids, cholesterol, intrinsic proteins, extrinsic proteins, glycoproteins and glycolipids in one membrane view. It is designed to keep membrane position and membrane function together, so selective permeability, recognition and transport are easier to compare.

This is a simplified 2D teaching model. Use it to track where each component sits and what role that position allows, not as a literal scale drawing of a real membrane.
